GK Ace

Interactive 3D driving portfolio — navigate projects by driving through a browser world.

Proprietary license · Not open source · Not MIT

GK Ace is an experimental interactive 3D driving portfolio designed around the idea of turning a portfolio website into an experience rather than a conventional collection of web pages.

The concept is strongly inspired by the style pioneered by Bruno Simon, whose portfolio famously allows visitors to drive around a 3D world to discover his work and information. GK Ace applies this same fundamental idea to a personal portfolio: instead of asking visitors to scroll through traditional sections, the visitor enters an interactive 3D environment and uses a car as the primary method of navigation.

Different areas of the environment can represent different aspects of the portfolio, such as projects, skills, experience or other information. The project is built primarily around Three.js and WebGL, making the browser itself the rendering platform. JavaScript controls the interactive experience, while the 3D environment provides the visual and navigational layer.

This type of project demonstrates skills that are difficult to communicate through a conventional portfolio alone. Real-time rendering, 3D scene construction, animation, camera management, interaction handling, asset management and browser performance all become part of the experience.

GK Ace is consequently both a portfolio and a technical demonstration of interactive 3D web development. The technology becomes part of the portfolio's message: visitors do not merely read about the developer's ability to build interactive experiences — they experience one directly.

Problem

Conventional scroll portfolios struggle to communicate real-time 3D, interaction, and game-style web engineering skills.

Solution

A Bruno Simon–inspired Three.js/WebGL driving experience where the car is the navigation method and the world is the portfolio.

Features

  • Drive-to-explore portfolio navigation
  • Real-time Three.js / WebGL world
  • Camera, animation & interaction systems
  • Browser-performance-conscious 3D
  • Portfolio-as-experience demonstration
